Clear terms give you something to point to when a client pays late, cancels last minute or uses your work without asking.
This is the set of general terms I use in my own creative business. I'm not a legal counsel, but these terms have helped me get paid on time, protect my work and set clear expectations before a project starts. I've translated them into English, removed my personal details and marked everything you need to change in red.
What's inside
Formation of the agreement, including confirmation by email, WhatsApp or DM
Fees, travel costs and additional work
Payment terms, late payment interest and collection costs
Complaints, delivery and deadlines
A tiered cancellation policy
Copyright, licences, RAW files and a clause on AI use of your work
Infringement, liability and portrait rights
Bankruptcy, choice of law and jurisdiction
How it works

Fill in your details and check every number against how you work.
Turn it back to black, export as PDF and send it with every quote.
Each red note explains what to check, so you know why it's there.

It's written for Dutch law and for business clients. If you work in another country or with private customers, ask a legal professional to adapt it.
It's a template, not legal advice. Have a lawyer read it before you rely on it.
It's made for photographers, videographers and creative production companies. Other creatives can use it with small changes.
